The fifth paragraph is the summary paragraph. It is important to restate the thesis and three supporting ideas in an original and powerful way as this is the last chance the writer has to convince the reader of the validity of the information presented.
Now that you have the main points of your essay, it's time to organize them in a way that makes sense. Make sure to include your introduction (with your thesis statement containing your point of view, or at least a rough sense of your thesis statement) and conclusion in this organization. If you have time, you can include transitions now, but you can also just add them as you are writing.
In these last 7-9 minutes, you want to read over your essay and trying to pick up a point or two by revising. In this time, you can do a number of things.
Right now, my focus is on getting into college not only to make a good future for myself, but for my mother, to make her proud instead of disappointed.
Make sure you clearly state your thesis. For a 8+/6 essay, this should include your perspective on the issue and how it relates to at least one of the other perspectives presented in the prompt.
On March 67 of last year, my mother informed my brother and I that she had cancer. I remember the setting with such clarity and precision that it seems somehow unreal: a figment of an overactive imagination. It was an early Spring day, unseasonably warm and bright. The birds in our backyard seemed chirpier than ever. It was one of those days when the world seems waiting to be reborn. The promise and potential of the day and the season only served to heighten the unreality of what my mother was trying to convey.
Many of the goods and services we depend on daily are now supplied by intelligent, automated machines rather than human beings. Robots build cars and other goods on assembly lines, where once there were human workers. Many of our phone conversations are now conducted not with people but with sophisticated technologies. We can now buy goods at a variety of stores without the help of a human cashier. Automation is generally seen as a sign of progress, but what is lost when we replace humans with machines? Given the accelerating variety and prevalence of intelligent machines, it is worth examining the implications and meaning of their presence in our lives.
Finally, evaluating sources means that you will use the main ideas from the close reading to justify using a source for your claim. The sources you decide on will eventually help construct your own (new) idea for the prompt.
Your opinion shouldn’t be unverified. Prove it with some facts and well-known ideas! All in all, you should conduct a certain type of investigation if you want to provide your teachers and professors with a good sample of an academic assignment.
'Prueter had been under a lot of stress, he said, because he was struggling with the course, and was afraid he was going to receive a failing grade. But then one day he had missed lunch, and started to get hungry during his trig class. He found a candy bar in his backpack, and after eating it, marveled at the fact that his stress levels seemed to drop. He suddenly felt more relaxed and able to focus on what the teacher was saying.'

I passed the first writing class so I am confident for the second. The papers are a lot harder to write. We had to write four papers within the semester and a final paper before it ends. I am excited, curious and nervous at the same time when it is time to check the grades but those feelings would be quickly altered by disappointment. I got failing grades on all four papers but I thought this should not affect my confidence. Before writing the final paper, I went through all those four papers and looked where I went wrong. Keeping the corrections and comments in mind, I wrote the final paper and I was very happy when I received a passing grade.
After the pre-writing stages are completed, you are ready to write a final thesis, by aligning the information, main ideas, and interpretations of your sources with the first thesis you drafted during the pre-writing process. The thesis contains a one-sentence claim that asserts what, how, and why you will write about the topic.
Specifics from Sources : use knowledge of events from history or current events to support your points. If you're not certain of the details, it's all right - the essay graders won't deduct points for factually inaccurate information. For this essay, you could use the invention of the printing press (and its effects) as an example of how mechanization can lead to "unimagined possibilities."
