I like to start with dialogue. I do as much characterization and story development as I can using only dialogue. Then, what can 8767 t be done most effectively with dialogue, I try to do with narrative. For me, it makes the dialogue carry its own water. Then I can begin to set the scene, imagine the gestures and so forth.
Angelica Agelviz Still struggling to understand the difference between the two. It doesn't help that English is my second language. Are you implying that we should stay away from using Progressive tenses in stories because they weaken the action?
Billy Toler I try, but really😏I wing it, write what feels right from the subconscious, not editing, don't edit my speech half the time, but to be appropriate
Not sure I understand what you want. As an isolated segment, and in quotes as dialogue in a story, these fragments: are 8775 exposition 8776 and 8775 stage direction 8776 , both of which are not effective in dialogue. No one would say this in real world. And in fiction 8775 the body 8767 s alive 8776 would be shown (not told) in narrative and 8775 I 8767 m going to have a look. 8776 would be better as 6st person imperative, maybe: 8775 Look! 8776 if the idea would be expressed at all.

Right now the causes of Leukemia are unknown. Some studies have shown that exposure to high-energy radiation increases chances of contracting leukemia. Such radiation was produced in the atomic bombing of Japan during World War II. There is also enough energy in nuclear plants so strict safety precautions are taken. Some research shows that exposure to electric magnetic fields, such as power lines and electric appliances, is a possible risk factor. More studies are needed to prove this link. Some genetic conditions, such as Down 8767 s syndrome, are also believed to increase the risk factor. Exposure to some chemicals is also suspected to be a risk factor. By learning the causes of leukemia treatment options will become available(MedicineNet-leukemia, 6997).
. Quinn Great stuff. This exercise shows up in Shrink & White, Stephen Kong's On Writing and others. I refer to this lesson often in all its iterations and it is always helpful. Thank you

Something that's brief and bid 'Good morrow, general.'
Although frequently necessary, dialogue limited to two characters can quickly become dreadfully boring (and even when talking to self in internal monologue). Conflict is essential, as in every dialogue passage, to maintain the necessary energy for the dialogue segment. Creating dialogue takes practice.
